The Kirby: Behind the Scenes series is a Kirby-related fan fiction comic series that takes place in a alternate universe from the games, though the series is heavily influenced by them. The series was created back in 2008 and it is not intended as theft in any way, shape or form.

The series was not only influenced by the games but both the Kirby anime series and the manga and anime franchise One Piece are also a heavy influence to the series as well.

About the series[]

Classic K- BTS Logo

Classic logo of the series.

The series mainly focuses on the Dream Warriors and the adventures and situations they often get into but other characters in the series do get focus as well. As per usual alternate universe standards, characters from the source material do often appear in the series but they differ from their source material counterparts in terms of personality, appearance or the combination of the two and a common trend in the series is that characters who are villains in the source material are not so in the series' universe though this does not apply to all characters from the games as most of the Dark Matter and the Squeak Squad are still villains.

Zapped Lemon

Waddle Doo getting zapped by Kracko's lightning during Chapter 4, one of the series' many instances of cartoon endurance.

Arm Loss

Waddle Dee Jr. losing his arm to Damozoph, one of the few instances of strong, bloody violence in the series.

The series is much like a cartoon like Looney Tunes as characters can pull stuff out of hammerspace and that they often survive things that would kill normal people, but they are not aware of the 4th wall unlike most cartoon characters are. The series can also be very dark as scary things happen in the series from time to time and the fact that the series can be bloody at times as the characters often get injuries during the fights though very serious injuries are very rare in the series.

The series does have it's fair share of references to other franchises but they are not referenced directly by name and instead in the form of affectionate parodies as they do not make fun of the franchise they are referencing though there are some differences from what they are referencing and this is to distinguish them from what series they are based on. Such examples being story and character differences.

Running Gags in the series[]

The series has running gags in it, mostly for a comical purpose to relieve tension between the characters.

Ongoing[]
  • People often making remarks on Dedede being fat and him saying something sarcastic in response.
  • Waddle Dee Jr. makes a bad pun every now and then. He usually makes them about the current situation that he and the other Dream Warriors are in. Waddle Dee Jr. has another running gag where people make remarks on his height and he says something in response.
  • Waddle Doo often makes sarcastic remarks about many things, often people he doesn't like. Another running gag with Waddle Doo is that he is often called a lemon as in the fruit, often by antagonists.
